Projection: need to automatically qualify

Boston University's résumé is built around a couple of high-value moments but is undercut by a pattern of poor road results, which is exactly how the committee will weigh it. The road victory at Northeastern and the tight neutral-site win over Harvard serve as the program's best evidence that it can win away from home, yet those bright spots are tempered by a heavy loss at Northwestern and nonconference setbacks at Penn State, Columbia, Northern Kentucky, Merrimack and New Hampshire that expose defensive inconsistencies and make the overall profile look brittle. The Patriot League slate offers plenty of opportunities to rebuild credibility, with manageable home dates against Army, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland and Lafayette and several conference road tests, but a trip to Colgate and other tough away assignments loom as must-win chances to erase the damage from earlier setbacks.
