Projection: need to automatically qualify

NC A&T’s profile has the kind of peak moments that make a committee take notice, such as the home win over Hofstra, the road rout at Elon, and the gritty victory at UNC Greensboro, but those highlights are overwhelmed by damaging results away from home and at neutral sites like the heavy loss at South Carolina and the neutral defeat to Howard. The Aggies have been unkind to their own résumé with a string of conference setbacks at William & Mary, Charleston, Campbell and UNC Wilmington and a handful of narrow road defeats at Stony Brook, Monmouth and Drexel that underline a late‑game closing problem. With too few marquee wins away from campus and too many bad losses holding the profile back, the only reliable path to the NCAA tournament runs through the conference tournament where a sustained run against familiar league opponents can undo the damage of the regular season.
