SIUE’s résumé is built around a handful of meaningful wins away from home, most notably road victories at UT San Antonio and at Drake and a neutral-site victory over Alabama State that show they can close out hostile environments. Those highs are offset by bruising setbacks on the road, most prominently the trip to Wisconsin and losses at Air Force and Indiana State, which expose how badly a few poor nonconference outings can damage perception. The Ohio Valley run still offers plenty of chances to reshape the profile with games at Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois and home opportunities against Morehead State and Southern Indiana while the road tests at Tennessee Martin and SE Missouri State are the more telling chances to add true résumé value. To change how the selection committee feels SIUE will need more of the road and neutral success it already has shown and fewer of the lopsided nonconference defeats.
