Projection: need to automatically qualify

West Georgia is essentially math-challenged for an at-large path because heavy road beatings at Nebraska, UCLA and Georgia and ugly losses at Georgia Tech, Jacksonville and Florida Gulf Coast overwhelm the handful of respectable results such as the road win at Troy and home victories over Bellarmine and Eastern Kentucky. Those lopsided defeats away from campus and recent home setbacks to Tennessee Tech and Georgia Southern expose defensive problems and an inability to win the kind of tough neutral or true road games a selection committee rewards. The remaining schedule, which includes a road trip to Bellarmine, visits to Central Arkansas and Eastern Kentucky and home dates with Queens and Lipscomb along with key conference tests against North Florida and North Alabama, gives West Georgia chances to repair the resume but the clearest, most realistic route into the NCAA tournament is to capture the Atlantic Sun’s automatic berth.
