Projection: likely out

Belmont’s season features resume-building flashes, namely a road victory at Oral Roberts and convincing neutral-site wins over St Francis PA and Toledo, but those bright spots are muted by a lack of a signature scalp over a power-conference opponent and by conference results that offer little to excite the committee. The body of work looks strong against lesser and peer midmajors yet thin on true road and neutral victories against recognized high-majors, and upcoming tests at Northern Iowa and Murray St along with home dates against Richmond and MTSU are clear chances to change the narrative. Until Belmont converts any of those opportunities away from its comfort zone the committee will view the résumé as solid but short on the top-end wins that separate at-large teams from the field, so the current projection is consistent with how this profile stacks up.
