Projection: need to automatically qualify

Loyola Maryland’s profile is defined by a couple of low-end wins and a string of damaging road losses that leave little margin for error. The neutral victory over Stonehill and the home win against Coppin State are positives, but they are outweighed by a lopsided trip to Kentucky and difficult losses away at Duquesne, Fairfield, Hampton and VMI that expose struggles outside Reitz Arena. A narrow defeat at NJIT and the loss to Mount St. Mary’s further blunt any claim of quality nonconference résumé building. The Patriot League slate still gives the team clear paths to improve, with a very difficult trip to Colgate and an uphill road test at George Mason standing out as resume-defining opportunities and a block of league home games against Bucknell, Army, Boston University, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh offering chances to rack up necessary league victories, but genuine upward movement will hinge on stealing a signature road result or putting together a dominant stretch in league play.
