Projection: need to automatically qualify

Eastern Michigan’s resume is keyed by a true road scalp at Cincinnati and another tough road victory at Detroit plus a solid nonconference win over Oakland that demonstrate the team can win away from home and beat respectable mid‑major opponents; those bright spots have been badly tempered by a shocking home loss to IUPUI and a lopsided trip to Louisville that exposed defensive flaws against upper‑tier teams, and additional setbacks at Butler, Akron and Wright State have left the profile uneven. The remaining conference slate hands the Eagles several clear chances to rebuild momentum with home dates against Massachusetts, Ohio, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan and important road tests at Ball State, Central Michigan and Bowling Green where a few wins would markedly improve perceptions. Ultimately the committee will weigh the value of those road victories against the damage of the bad losses and expect Eastern Michigan to protect its home floor while stealing critical road results if it wants to change the narrative.
