Projection: need to automatically qualify

Sacred Heart’s résumé reads like a team with a couple of respectable moments overshadowed by several damaging setbacks. The road victory at Mount St Mary’s and a home win over Holy Cross show the program can close out games, but those positives are undercut by heavy losses at Villanova and at Penn State and a wild, high-scoring defeat at Central Connecticut that revealed real defensive problems. Tough nonconference trips, including the loss at Duquesne and setbacks against mid‑majors, have left little margin for error, and the club’s ability to win away from home has been inconsistent. The remaining slate features a string of league home dates against the likes of Canisius, Niagara and Rider plus road tests at Siena and Quinnipiac, so clean road wins and a strong run through the conference schedule are the only clear paths to repairing the résumé.
